About this Unit
This unit covers advanced IP addressing schemes using variable length subnet masks (VLSM ).
Routing Information Protocol (RIP ), Interior and Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol
(IGRP and EIGRP ) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF ) are covered.
Ethernet technologies, switched networks, the spanning tree protocol, secure VLANs and
VLAN trunking are covered in some detail.
Students learn how to design, implement, document and troubleshoot networks based on the
above technologies.
This unit is mapped to the Cisco Networking Academy, Semester 3 .
To achieve this unit you must:
- Design addressing schemes using classless addressing and Variable Length Subnet
Masks
- Configure and troubleshoot routers and routing protocols
- Understand, design and set up switched Ethernet networks
- Set up secure networks using VLANs and VLAN Trunking.
